The Key To Finding The Most Profitable Niche Markets

What are the most profitable niche markets? To find these you must do some initial keyword research and look for keywords with a high search volume but relatively low advertising competition. When the supply is low and the demand is high you have the potential to make some very large profits. Finding these smaller profitable segments (or "niches") of the larger market is critical to your success and can be the difference between a satisfactory income and a fortune. So tap into niches of hungry people looking for the answers that the competition just is not providing. This is simple but powerful advice.

The most profitable markets of 2010 are not all that different to the popular markets of the past several years. The category of "making money online" always rates as one of the most popular and profitable markets. However, even though there is a lot of money to be made in this market, there are a lot of "big players" sucking the profits and making it hard for the "little guys" to compete. According to the Google AdWords Keyword Tool, the phrase "Internet marketing" had 2,740,000 global searches during March of 2010 and 265,000,000 websites are online to meet the needs of people searching for that phrase. Clearly, if you want to profit in this extremely saturated category, you will need to focus on a smaller niche of this larger market.

Another profitable market is health, weight loss and people looking for information on how to quit smoking. The term "weight loss" had 16.5 million searches performed in March. Results from that search phrase using a search engine showed 186 million websites with information on weight loss. More than a million people are looking information to help them quit smoking. Once again, these gigantic markets are much too big to effectively market to. Focusing on a sub-niche is much more profitable.

The economic downturn saw millions of people losing jobs and then being unable to pay their mortgages and other bills. Some lost their homes to foreclosure. Some declared bankruptcy. Others were chronically late on their payments. All of these situations took a heavy toll on their credit scores. People are not happy with this and are looking for ways to repair their credit rating. The term "credit repair" had 673,000 searches performed and yielded 41 million sites on the result page. In looking for a sub-niche, you might find that the term "credit card debt solutions," with 5400 global searches, looks more promising. But when you research the number of websites with information for this niche, a disheartening 3,000,000 results appear on the result page.

Other profitable markets include items related to pets, relationships and divorce, travel, green living and alternative energy, self-development and gaming. Each of these industries is so large that you must focus on one small segment of it. However, each offers the potential for some very large profits.

To identify a profitable niche will take a bit of research. Use a reliable keyword tool like the Google AdWords Keyword Tool to find out the number of searches that have been done for particular keywords (which can be the names of the niche markets). The ideal number of searches you are looking for is between 30,000 and 70,000 Global Monthly Searches, along with below average competition. This will ensure you maximise your chances of generating the highest profit.

Not much has changed in the way of the most popular markets. However, the most popular and lucrative markets are highly competitive. This is why keyword research is essential. This does take a little time, but it will be time well spent once you identify that profitable niche and begin to generate a nice income from your efforts.
