Find your main keywords and drill down through to your long-tails. Look at what companies are paying to be on top of these keywords and the main volume keywords in the results. A good keyword tool will tell you the bids with these long-tails, if the keywords are not bid up much, in most cases it may be a low paying field, but not in all cases. There could be low competition because a lack of products or services in that field.
If you see bad websites for products and services this usually is a bad sign as bigger companies may have tried the niche and don't see much profit. Fly by night operations are there to pick up the crumbs if any. If there are no ads or competition at all, this is time to be even more cautious and run tests. Test with a better looking website and attractive offer possibly giving something away free to start.
These various fields of interest may just not have people spending money in them. There may be free and cheap stuff already easy to get at and the group is not use to spending money for this field. There is the fact that there are people in that group that will not pay for anything online. There is also the ability to pay online as a hindrance to some who may not have an account or credit card for this.
It is from an investment standpoint safer to find a money well that the competition is already getting at instead of trying to drill a new one. Competition is a good sign in a niche as they already have done a lot of work already and they know there is a market there. We can use other tools besides the keyword tool to find if there is money being spent in that field but this is too much of an extended subject for this article.
When we find there is already businesses making money we can then can go in with free giveaways, better looking websites, and better products and services.
We perform surveys to find out what is lacking in the current products and services offered. We ask our audience what they would want, how it can be improved, and so on. We can hire a survey company if we don't want to take on the job ourselves. We let them name the companies of the products and services that they were not as satisfied as they could have been. We tailor make our offers and advertising to answer what they are most wanting from a product or service in that niche.
When our product or service has been honed by our survey knowledge we then can run ad tests. We run our ads testing different ways of wording and formats. We work on colors and styles. We change content and alter offers for better response.
Now we do more surveys to see what our buyers think about it. We ask how can it and customer service can be approved. We want to know if price, delivery, and item or service had the quality they were looking for.
Once asking our buyers questions is complete and things are tweaked and adjusted we can continue. Customer service will then need to be upgraded to the maximum possible level, A happy customer is a repeat customer. Then it is time to add more funds into the marketing pot, or work on content instead of adding funds.
Build trust and respectability between you and the customers/clients is the main concern in this business. It is currently common to never hear or see the customer service and anyone can hide behind a web site. So you are suspect if the customer never heard of you or your company before.
